He married Anna Larsdotter in 1923, and together they built a household that would eventually hold three children: Karl, Maria, and Sven. Erik died in 1975, in the very house he was born in, his toolbox still tucked under the bed.

Anna was known for her knitted mittens, patterned in a way no one else in the parish could quite copy, and for keeping a small account book where every krona in and out of the household was noted down to the last öre. She died in 1980 in Askersund, at the age of 78.
