Report Bugs and Feedback

Found something that doesn't work? Or have an idea for how PastPaths could be better? All feedback is welcome.

How do I report something?

Describe the actual channel — email, GitHub Issues, a form on the website, etc.

Right now we collect feedback via:

  • Email to support@pastpaths.se
  • A form at pastpaths.se/feedback

Both are fine — choose whichever is easiest for you.

What's good to include?

For bugs — things that aren't working the way they should:

  1. What did you do? Describe the steps in as much detail as you can manage.

  2. What did you expect to happen?

  3. What happened instead?

  4. Which version of PastPaths? You'll find the version number under Help → About.

    Confirm the exact menu path.

  5. Which operating system? E.g. "Windows 11, version 23H2".

  6. A screenshot if possible. Press Win + Shift + S on Windows to take a screen clip.

For ideas and requests, a short description of what you'd like to be able to do, and why it would be valuable, is enough.

A good bug report — example

What I did: I opened a person, clicked "Add partner," and searched for "Anna."

What I expected: Anna's name would show up in the search results.

What happened instead: The search field went blank and a yellow box appeared saying "Something went wrong." Nothing happened when I clicked "OK."

Version: PastPaths 0.9.2

Operating system: Windows 11

Screenshot: [attached]

That's the kind of report that lets me find the bug in 5 minutes instead of 50.

What's less helpful?

Not meant as criticism — just so you know what's harder to work with:

  • "It doesn't work" (with no context)
  • "Something's wrong somewhere"
  • "The program is good but bad"

None of that is wrong — it's just harder to fix.

Security issues

If you find a security issue — e.g. a way to access someone else's data — report it privately rather than through an open channel.

Add a dedicated security email if you have one (security@pastpaths.se?).

Thank you

PastPaths gets better with every report. Thanks for taking the time.
